Interested in attending one the military academies?
For those that are interested, the process actually starts with the annual Academy Day, which will occur this year on Saturday, March 26th, at Dixie Heights High School in Edgewood. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. and the program will start at 11:00 a.m. On Academy Day, representatives from the Air Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine, Military and Naval Academies will be available to answer questions and discuss the application process with students and their parents. A member of the Congressman Geoff Davis’ staff will also be available to explain the nomination process. The deadline to apply for a nomination from Congressman Davis is October 15, 2011.
If you know someone, even as young as a freshman in high school, who is truly interested in the Academies, consider bringing them to this event or sharing this information with them. The process of securing a nomination and admission is very competitive; you can never start too early to put together a strong application.
