Registration for the Oct. 20th PSAT opens

The following letter was distributed to students in grades 9-11.  This is information regarding the PSAT exam that will be given on OCTOBER 20, 2012.  This exam is optional but does require the students to register and pay for it with the guidance office.

There are many benefits to taking the PSAT:

FRESHMEN & SOPHOMORES benefit by taking the exam as practice prior to taking it for scholarship opportunity as a junior.  Again, this is practice so they can improve their score when they are juniors.  Seat priority goes to Juniors, Sophomores, then Freshmen.

JUNIORS benefit for a variety of reasons:
  •          Assess your critical reading, mathematical reasoning, and writing skills
  •          Get specific suggestions on how to improve your academic skills
  •          Enter the National Merit Scholarship Corporation competitions for recognition and scholarships
  •          Use My College QuickStart to access free resources and information about college & career planning
  •          Use score to apply for the Kentucky Governor’s Scholar Program

Registration begins SEPTEMBER 7th  and lasts until SEPTEMBER 21st in the Guidance Office.  Cost is $18.00
