Announcements Thursday, February 25th


Pasta for Pennies:
  • The Pasta for Pennies Campaign has begun! 
  • All money goes to the Leukemia Society to fund research and support local families
  • Please collect donations in the boxes during 5th period classes and send your box to the main office at the beginning of the period Thursday and Friday this week
  • We will be collected money until the end of March
  • The class that raises the most money per student will win an Olive Garden lunch complete with pasta, salad and their outstanding breadsticks,.2nd  through 4th place classes will receive pizza
  • All boxes will be returned to you before the next collection day generally during RAP as to minimize classroom disruptions
  • Thank you for your support!!!!


Senior Exit:
  •         Senior Exit information is due Monday, March 7th 
  •         There will be workshops available from our English 4 ILT for writing your cover letter 
  •         These workshops are available Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday this week and next week 
  •         Take advantage of this opportunity

  • Congratulations to the Governor's cup team for placing 1st Overall in Regional competition

Boone County Youth Cabinet applications

It is time once again to begin the application process for next year’s Boone County Youth Cabinet.

Requirements:
  • Junior in high school (2016-2017) and reside in Boone County
  • Must attend monthly planned program activities, most of which are scheduled during the school day hours with some evening and weekend activities. Failure to attend three (3) activities could result in termination from the program.
  • All application materials must be postmarked or received by Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 4:30 p.m.  Please mail, fax, e-mail or bring the completed application to the Boone County Human Services Department, P.O. Box 296, 2950 Washington Street, Burlington, Kentucky 41005; phone number (859) 334-3124.  (Attention: Laura Pleiman)
The program, established by the Boone County Fiscal Court thirteen years ago, helps students develop in the areas of leadership and civic responsibility by offering youth perspectives to the Judge-Executive and Fiscal Court; encouraging teens to become familiar with the legal and judicial process;  engaging them in decision-making and service-learning; and demonstrating how youth can influence public policy.   The group is sponsored by the Boone County Fiscal Court and RC Durr YMCA.

  • PSAT scores are available in the guidance office for pickup


Boys Tennis:
  • The boys tennis team will need to stop by Mr. Stropko's room (121) to pick up a practice and match schedule 


MHS Candy Guess:
  • Clayton Oney won with his guess of 512
  • Clayton, please see Mrs. Freihofer in room 209 to claim your prize


Boys Track & Field:
  • Boys track and field is practicing Monday-Thursday
  • Practice is from 3-5, meet in room 103
  • If you would like to be part of the track and field team (grades 7-12), please make plans to attend all practices
  • If you are currently finishing a winter sport, please see Coach Harden about your intention to join team

Hispanic Honor Society:
  • Due to our snowdays, our mandatory Hispanic Honor Society meeting will now be on Tuesday 16th, mark your calendars!


FCCLA Week:
  • This upcoming week is FCCLA Week. Each day we will be having a theme that we would like the whole school to participate in.

    • Thursday (2/18) - Teacher/Staff Appreciation Day

Fastpitch Softball Tryouts:

ACT Prep Classes:
  •  Attention Juniors, the ACT is March 1st! 
  • Take advantage of the PREP classes being offered right here at RYLE! 
  • You can sign up for Math & Science and/or English/Reading depending on your needs.
  • Registration forms can be located on the Ryle website, or you can see Ms. Lovins or Ms. Rogers for more info! 
  • Classes begin this week!!!


Ryle Raiderettes:
  • This weekend the Ryle Dance Team will be competing nationally at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center
  • On Saturday they are performing at 9:02 AM and 1:12 PM. On Sunday they are performing again at 8:50 AM and 1:21 PM
  • Come out and see the Raiderettes dance and thanks for your support!


French Honor Society:
  • The February 10th meeting has been rescheduled to February 18th
  • Please make an effort to attend, as we will be bagging candy afterwards
  • Also, we still need Valentine's Day cards, so please bring them in BEFORE Valentine's Day has passed!

Sarah Moore Named National Merit Finalist

Congratulations to Ryle senior Sarah M. Moore for being named a National Merit FINALIST!

Sarah is the daughter of Richard and Ruth Moore of Union, KY.

The National Merit® Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. High school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®)—a test which serves as an initial screen of approximately 1.5 million entrants each year—and by meeting published program entry and participation requirements.

Congratulations Sarah!  We are very proud of you!

Congratulations to the Ryle FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Team

The Ryle FTC Team has competed in the following competitions and earned awards in each.  Great job by our students and Masaru Ryumae for his guidance and mentoring of the team!


Southern Indiana FTC Regional Tournament (12/2015) - 1st place Connect Award

Central Ohio FTC Regional Tournament (01/2016) - 1st place Motivate Award, 2nd place Connect Award and 3rd place Promote Award form Ohio Central Regional FTC tournament (1/2016).

Kentucky FTC State Tournament (01/2016) - Texas Super Regional qualifier.  2nd place Inspire award (overall award), 1st place Connect award, and finalists for the Promote Award, the Rockwell Collins Innovative Thinking Award and the PTC Design Award.











This weekend, Ryle Brainy Bots members will be doing an FTC demo at the FIRST Lego League KY State Tournament at NKU.

FBLA:
  • Permission forms, Code of Conduct forms, and $30 is due to Mrs. Stef in room 138 by February 12

HHS:
  • There will be a MANDATORY Hispanic Honor Society meeting on Tuesday, February 9th that will cover urgent information on the convention and points opportunities!


Knitting Club:
  • Knitting Club will meet on Tues. 2/9 instead of Wed. 
  • Same time, 2:30 to 3:30


MHS:
  • The Candy Guess for MHS members is up and will conclude on Friday, February 12! It's in Room 211!
  • MHS Meeting Monday, February 22 in the Media Center at 2:30!


Summer Health/PE Class:
  • Anyone in grades 9-11 who is interested can see the signup link on the Guidance Dept. Website.
  • Signups will be on a first come first serve basis. One section will be offered
