Boys Soccer Team wins in Hoosier Cup

Sophomore striker Tyrus Sciarra scored with 14 minutes to play in the first half and junior keeper Chris Froschauer made six saves in his third shutout of the season as Ryle defeated Washington (Ind.) 1-0 Saturday to win the Gus Mukhaki Division of the Hoosier Classic at Indiana University in Bloomington.

Ryle also earned 2-all ties against Bloomington North earlier Saturday and East Central late Friday to finish 1-0-2 in the tournament.
Sciarra totaled two goals in the event and senior midfielder Brett Uminger added three assists.

Matt Carron, Ryle music teacher and director of the Marching Raiders, has been selected as the 2009-2010 High School Teacher of the Year by the District 6 (Northern Kentucky) Music Educators.  With this award, Mr. Carron is automatically nominated for the state music teacher of the year.

Mr. Carron has led the Ryle Wind Ensemble and the Raider Marching Band to numerous awards and multiple distinguished performances.  Under his guidance, the Ryle music program has grown and flourished.  Congratulations Mr. Carron and thanks for everything you do!

Homecoming 2010

Ryle High School will celebrate Homecoming during the week of September 13th - 18th.  On Friday, Sept. 17th, the Homecoming Parade will begin at Union Baptist Church and end at Borland Stadium.  At halftime of the football game vs. Dixie Heights that same night, the Homecoming Court and Queen will be announced.  The Homecoming Dance will be held on Saturday, September 18th at Ryle.

Highlands wins battle of top Northern Kentucky teams

Tax Hearing on Thursday, Aug. 26th

The Boone County Board of Education will hold a tax hearing on Thursday, August 26th at the Rush Center (Old Florence Elementary) in Florence.

The public hearing will address the board's decision to assess an increase in the property tax rate in support of the Boone County Schools.

While no one wishes to pay additional taxes, this increase must be seen as an investment in our students and our schools.  We have reduced expenses and cut our teaching staff this past year and two years before, without this increase in funding for our school district, the impact on Ryle itself would be very harsh.  Our instructional funding from the school board would most likely be decreased by 25%, which would amount to approximately $50,000, and we would likely have to make additional cuts in our teaching staff.  Reductions in the faculty would lead to larger class sizes and the possible loss of elective programs, such as chorus.

Please attend Thursday's hearing if possible or contact your board representative to let them know you support our schools and our students!

The Lady Raider soccer team lost their first match of the season to defending state runner-up Notre Dame Academy. Off to a great start with a 2-1 record, they will look to rebound against Scott tonight.
